Niigata

When people think Niigata, sake tends to come to mind. Yet, they've actually had a small number of wineries for a while now, producing some of Japan's most interesting expressions of terroir. In fact, some might say Niigata is the birthplace of the Albarino movement in Japan, with plantings now found in places all across the Sea of Japan coast.
